It is of course true that elites possess greater wealth than the rest, often in the form of splendid individual items such as bowls, goblets, or cloaks (which may be described as 'heirlooms', κειμήλια, or objects of *shining/symbolic value*, αγάλματα); hence they will be able to engage in splendid acts of gift-exchange on their own or their state's behalf.

Να εξηγήσω το "αγλάισμα" σαν να εξηγώ το "άγαλμα":
αγλαϊζω=λαμπρύνω, κοσμώ, δοξάζω
αγλάισμα=στολίδι, πρόσωπο ή αντικείμενο που φέρνει τιμή και δόξα (π.χ. το αγλάισμα του τόπου)
αγλαός=λαμπρός, φωτεινός (συν. ακτινοβόλος)
Το αγλάισμα εμπεριέχει shining και symbolic value. Οι λέξεις άγαλμα και αγλάισμα περιέχουν και τις δύο σημασίες άρα δεν χρειάζεται να πούμε τίποτε περισσότερο απ' αυτό που λέω στη Βίκη.
