Discussion

Carolyn Korzilius (asker) Jan 29, 2006:
sorry to both of you who suggested relationships - it doesnt fit into a report scenario, which is much more formal, and I dont think its the relationship that is the issue.
To all, it seems then that this is not such a current expression after all!
Thanks for all your help on this.
Carolyn Korzilius (asker) Jan 28, 2006:
its a report so quite formal...and stressing that the various committees and the management board and supervisory board of this multinational company keep each other regularly informed. I first thought hotline not sure...thought kurzer Draht might be a phrase, something like short communication routes/channels, but better?

informal relationship ?

"direct contact" ?

they are on good terms/have a good relationship

I guess it means the same as 'einen guten Draht haben' which is a typical German phrase. Usually not referring to being informal though.
