Above reference a bit 'iffy', but time registration is the term for time recording on time sheets or other means:

This is the term used in the UK. You clock in, and at the end of your shift you repeat the procedure to clock out. Process involves sliding your card - usually a 4 x 3 ins paper card - down into the registration machine and removing it again.
