Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Aug 1, 2005:
"...a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, and signifying nothing." (Macbeth- Shakespeare obviously didn't think much of "consultants" either)
Steffen Walter Aug 1, 2005:
Und der "Gegenentwurf" dazu: Worte sind Schall und Rauch (aka "consulting/consultancy speak").
Steffen Walter Aug 1, 2005:
So very true, Gareth...
Non-ProZ.com Aug 1, 2005:
I know, Steffen, sometimes translating this kind of rubbish is about saving the client from themselves?
Steffen Walter Aug 1, 2005:
... unlike "Treffende Worte", which is more of a positive statement.
Steffen Walter Aug 1, 2005:
Not a very cute slogan in German IMO - "Worte die treffen" can also have a negative connotation ("das traf mich bis ins Mark" etc.).

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I'm going to use a variation on this one. I'd like to give the points to lord cilian for sheer nerve, but we have to consider standards on this site. May thx to Andrew and aarmat for their titilating textual trivia, and to everyone for joing in- many thanks"

Peer comment(s):

agree Steffen Walter : ... that hit the nail on the head? (might be too colloquial, though) / Of course, that's undisputed. What I meant was that this might be a tad too colloquial even in comparison to the other proposed solutions.

Mein erster Gedanke: "Words which hurt" gibt wohl am besten wider, was ich grundsätzlich von dem dt. Slogan halte.
