Spanish term or phrase: viejo (in this context)
The document is about the State Reform.

"Nos encontramos con un Estado viejo, caro e ineficiente. Es así que un grupo de ciudadanos decidieron unirse..."

Can I use "unmodern" here? "Old" doesn't work in this context. "...an unmodern, expensive, and inefficient State"??

agree  Michele Fauble: A longstanding state may not be rundown, and a rundown state may not be longstanding. //Seriously, 'rundown' may be a good option. There are so many possibilities here. BTW English is my native language.
1 hr
-> I changed my answer, ma chère..rundown is really good if you ask me..But it's hard for non-natives to recognize stylistic niceties..I know you do..this is not criticism..it's a fact. Happens to me in French the same way
