See 1 Corinthians 15:54. The author is using the familiar (especially to him) "King James" language and applying it in a different context. English (KJV): "Death is swallowed up in victory." Spanish )Reina Valera 1960): "Sorbida es la muerte en victoria." Yes, it sounds archaic to us, but I'm sure it's what the author would have used had he been writing in Spanish (in the 19th century).

...sería una opción sintética; otra más precisa quizá sería: No necesitaremos la fe, bastará con ver, prescindiremos de la esperanza porque tendremos la certeza.

Tu texto es prácticamente una paráfrasis de 1Corintios13: "El Amor Verdadero". Así que me copiaré de la Biblia :)
"El amor nunca deja de ser; pero las profecías se acabarán, cesarán las lenguas y el conocimiento se acabará.Porque conocemos y profetizamos de manera imperfecta; pero cuando llegue lo perfecto, lo imperfecto desaparecerá...Ahora vemos de manera indirecta y velada, como en un espejo; pero entonces veremos cara a cara. Ahora conozco de manera imperfecta, pero entonces conoceré tal y como soy conocido.
Ahora, pues, permanecen estas tres virtudes: la fe, la esperanza y el amor. Pero la más excelente de ellas es el amor"
