Report from  Friderike Butler
The Powwow in Washington DC turned out to be a great success. 22 translators attended and represented almost as many languages. We had a brief standing reception at the restaurant, followed by a delicious dinner in a semi private setting. The restaurant was very accommodating, the wait staff flexible and very friendly and the food was wonderful.

Many ideas and experiences were exchanged, certifcation processes were discussed, tips traded on translation tools and new connections made. It was a lively evening that lasted well until after 10pm for some :-)

Longest "commute" was St. Paul (happened to be in town for business and connected with us), followed by New York (drove specifically to meet with fellow translators) and Baltimore.

Backgrounds ranged from part time translator to full time, foreign country experience to PhD, and everyone had interesting stories to share.

We all agreed that we should meet again soon.

Report from  Monika Coulson
This was a great Powwow. I really enjoyed seeing my old friends there and also meeting so many new friends. It just felt that there was not enough time to get to know well everyone there.

The atmosphere was so friendly and it seemed that everyone enjoyed each-other's company. The food was yummy too. Thanks Friderike who organized this great powwow and thanks to everyone who made it there. I was impressed to hear that some of the translators had traveled for up to 5 hours to be there!

The powwow was fruitful too. We all learned new things and exchanged information, so we can network better in our every-day work.

Personally, I feel so honored to have met all of you and I would like to thank you all for coming and especially thank Friderike who made the special efforts (twice!!) for us to get together. I hope we will continue this great powwow tradition.

Monika
