Ok I get it: a massive tower with a walk-through section...if this is a long wall with a tower at the end..you can walk Through the tower to get to the other wall of the fort. That's the idea. Walk-through section..geesus

By the way, this sounds like a book. Are you saying that the author of this paper cannot be reached and that he/she has not one picture of the digging? I bet there are pictures out there. Archaeologists always take pictures

Look maci�o can be translated in different ways: like for wood it means "made out of single piece..but I don't think that a tower can be made out of One Stone..carved out of single rock..do you think that makes sense here? I doubt it..it's a massive tower

Yes, I took it to be a corner tower and of course it would have a passageway from one wall to another.
