English to Danish: Coagulation / Koagulation General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical (general)
Source text - English [L. coagulatio, clotting] The process of clotting. Coagulation depends upon the presence of several substances. Some of the most important are prothrombin, thrombin, thromboplastin (thrombokinase), calcium in ionic form, and fibrinogen. Prothrombin is converted to thrombin by the action of thrombloplastin in the presence of calcium ions. Thrombin then acts on the soluble fibrinogen of the plasma, converting it to insoluble fibrin. The fibrin forms a meshwork of fibers in which the corpuscles of the blood become entangled, thus forming a clot. (From Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary. Translation - Danish [Latin - coagulatio, sammenløben gel]. Størkningsprocessen i blod. Bio
My name is Jane Kjems, I was born in Denmark and I have been in the business of communication all my life. My Dad used to claim I was vaccinated with a "recordplayer-needle." I was always around people who spoke different languages, so already from early childhood I was engaged in translation. I studied at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, & at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, before I came to this country to finish up my education at Clark University in MA 20 years ago (Masters of Applied Linguistics), and I have owned my own translation business ever since. It is a one horse & buggy affair, since I am the only associate.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you!
