NB: ik heb deze vraag al eens eerder gesteld en wel bruikbare links ontvangen, maar net het woord "afschrijven" werd helaas niet vermeld.
Mijn vorige query was vrij uitgebreid (ik wilde zoveel mogelijk context geven om het duidelijk te maken). Dit werd echter niet door iedereen op prijs gesteld en kreeg van 1 persoon nogal een bot antwoord. Daarom nu een kortere explanation.

write off It is a term used by Dutch Customs. A ship has to file a summary declaration to Customs, to be checked by the latter and then "written off". I first thought they meant "discharge" but they already use this term for the word "zuiveren". I must admit that it is quite difficult to understand. I am really struggling with it. Dutch Customs themselves use the term " write off against the summary declaration" but this sounds very " translated" to me (I have the feeling they did not know how to translate it themselves).

What type of computer software? As Ken Cox asked in your previous question, does this involve an accounting or insurance package?
Could the Dutch be a bad translation: 'afschrijven' used as a translation of word meaning 'written down' i.e. 'recorded'?

reconcile, reconciliation

would seem to be what they mean, because writing off implies they have a value that, in accounting terms, is being written down/depreciated/amortised. I think they are merely matching movement of goods from manifests or import/export documents on the basis of pallets or gross weight.
