Italian term
riserve sintomatologiche
Italian to English
Medical
Medical (general)
Swiss hospital report of elderly patient who ultimately died following deterioration in their clinical condition:
"Alla luce delle già compromesse condizioni cliniche, si concorda per un atteggiamento conservativo, in assenza di possibilità terapeutiche. Si sospende tutta la terapia con riserve sintomatologiche. Si trasferisce quindi il paziente in reparto di Medicina dove viene constatato il decesso."
I believe this means something like "all treatment was stopped but there were treatments on standby to treat any symptoms" but I'm not sure and would love some insight on this.

Comment: ""symptomatic treatment" worked well here, thank you!"

symptomatologic concerns
My opinion on the text is that, I don't really think all treatments were halted, I think they were more specific due to the experience of deteriorating clinical condition. A decision needed to be made and it was a conservative one. Also there was the fact that there were no therapeutic possibilities hence, the conservative decision was to discontinue all therapy with symptomatologic concerns.
Symptomatology (also called semiology) is a branch of medicine dealing with the signs and symptoms of a disease.

watchful waiting
Your translation looks good to me.
As a possible alternative, I'd use this definition but I'm not quite sure in this specific context.
"Closely watching a patient’s condition but not giving treatment unless symptoms appear or change. Watchful waiting is sometimes used in conditions that progress slowly. It is also used when the risks of treatment are greater than the possible benefits. During watchful waiting, patients may be given certain tests and exams."
