Source text - Arabic وصف سكوت غريشن الموفد الأمريكي إلى السودان المحادثات الجارية بين السودان وتشاد بالتطور التاريخي والضروري لإرساء الأمن والاستقرار في إقليم دارفور. وقال في مقابلة هاتفية مع وكالة الصحافة الفرنسية من واشنطن إن التطبيع الجاري بين تشاد والسودان يمكن أن يعطي دفعة جديدة لمفاوضات السلام الجارية في العاصمة القطرية الدوحة حيث ستبدأ الحركات المسلحة مفاوضات مباشرة خلال أسابيع مع الحكومة السودانية.
وكان البلدان الجاران السودان وتشاد أعلنا طي صفحة الخلافات بينهما وفتح صفحة جديدة من التعاون لإرساء الأمن والاستقرار على جانبي الحدود بينهما. ، وأوردت الصحافة السودانية والعربية خبر إعلان الرئيس السوداني عمر البشير ان بلاده وتشاد "طويا نهائيا صفحة المشاكل" بينهما مؤكدا ان الخرطوم على استعداد لتطبيع العلاقات مع نجامينا. وقال البشير في كلمة في قاعة الصداقة (قاعة المؤتمرات في الخرطوم) امام الرئيس التشادي ادريس ديبي الذي قام بزيارة هي الاولى الى الخرطوم منذ ست سنوات، "بهذه الزيارة وضعنا حدا نهائيا للمشاكل بيننا"., ومن جانبه قال ديبي "جئت بقلب مفتوح ويد ممدودة لكتابة صفحة جديدة في علاقاتنا".
Translation - English Scott Gration, the US envoy to Sudan, described the ongoing talks between Chad and Sudan as a historical development that is necessary for establishing security and stability in Darfur. He said in a telephone interview with Agence France-Presse from Washington that the ongoing normalization between Chad and Sudan could give new impetus to the ongoing peace negotiations in the Qatari capital Doha, where the armed movements will begin direct negotiations within weeks with the Sudanese government.
The two neighbor countries Sudan and Chad announced turning the page on the disputes between them and opening a new page of cooperation to establish peace and stability on both sides of the borders between the two countries. Sudanese and Arab press reported that the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir said that his country and Chad "has completely turned the page on problems" between them asserting that Khartoum is ready to normalize relations with N'Djamena. Al-Bashir said in a speech at the Friendship Hall (conference room in Khartoum) in front of Chad's President Idriss Deby who paid a visit to Khartoum, the first in six years, "this visit has put an end to the problems between us". Deby said I have come with an open heart and my hand stretched out to write a new page in our relations."
