Bio

After studying Slovak and Latin language and literature, I chose to focus on linguistics and started an academic carrier during which my interest in lexicology led me to conduct research into specific grammatical (passive voice manifestation in Slovak) and translation phenomena (non-equivalent lexis, Slovak medical, veterinary and legal terminology). Furthermore, I have experience with morphological analysis based tasks and linguistic support for machine readable morphology for the Slovak language.

My academical carrier includes more than 20 years of experience in teaching Latin Medical terminology at Universities in Slovakia and Czech Republic, in the native languages study programs, as well as in international study program.
In my last role, I have been working as a linguist responsible for providing software content translation and localisation, as well as quality assurance services for a Fortune 100 company based in USA. The role included regular linguistic and functional testing of various web pages and applications on a number of software platforms, including Mac and iOS, working with CAT tools and Office package, ensuring the quality of the Slovak UI and conformity with format-holder requirements.

Among my freelance activities dubbing of documentary series, editing, proofreading, voice-over transcription, teaching and presenting could be listed.

Keywords: Slovak, translation, localisation, medical documentation - especially Latin medical records, human and veterinary anatomical terminology,
