I have my main experience in translating within technical areas; mobile phones, websites, manuals, etc, but I would like to take on broader assignments, since I also have higher education within other fields.
Understanding humans
I have my knowledge founded in anthropology and human behavior with my first bachelor in archaeology, ethnology and social geography at the University of Lund. Later in my career I decided to change my life path and studied computer science in combination with human work science at Blekinge Institute of Technology where I completed a bachelor as well as a master.
When the field of UX (user experience) drastically developed after the year 2000 I could title myself interaction designer and have worked within that field ever since.
I am also a musician. I am a nationally honored fiddler (riksspelman), folksinger and a cappella singer, and arrange and compose music for choir and theater. I also work on a regular basis with the UNESCO convention of immaterial heritage.
Language as a tool
One very important tool in creating digital communication concepts is language. Writing has always been close to me. I write formal essays and articles, but also devote a lot of time to creative writing for music, novels, short stories, etc.
When I was employed as an interaction designer by the Swedish Vodafone, I was assigned translation work for new mobile phones, manuals, websites and so on. I have always enjoyed translating, since it is both structured and creative at the same time.
English - almost my second native language
For some years now I have spent less time with actual translation assignments. However, seven years at IKEA Communications as a communication strategist I have learnt how the usage of language (English) in a strategic way makes every choice of word delicate and crucial for the understanding of a concept, before it goes into production.
I consider myself having a founded knowledge in the English language from living one year in the US, but also from my work with global companies over the past 15 years. |
