Bio
You will see the photo of Gypsyboy's successor, who actually answers to the name of Mikki. He is extremely intellegent and sociable. Just like his owner.
But now about me. I am half English, half Czech. I lived in England, and then what was Czecholslovakia. It was no joke under the Commies. As a foreigner and half-Czech you learnt to keep your mouth shut eventhough you were 8 years old. When I was ten we moved to Holland, and tehn horrors of horrors I was sent to boardingschool, from where I went to study history at London University. Great fun
I am now retired. I worked for ISNAR (Int. Service for NAtional Agricutural Research). I get my job as a senior bi-lingual secretary because I spoke French. I'd learnt it whilst living in France (for 4 years). What I liked about my work was editing reports etc. written by non native speakers. It gives one a lot of satisfaction turning bad English into "proper" English.
I then went to the ICTY where I remained until my retirement. Now there was a real challenge. It had just been set up. Everything still had to be done to make it run smoothly. The trials hadn't started yet and we had to read through the evidence (Horrible). I met very interesting people who were seldom boring.
As I mentioned above I am retired. On the one had it is nice to do what you want when you want, but I do have to do the cleaning, etc. These are jobs I hate. I am a rotten housekeeper. What I do miss are my friends who are spread all over the world. You can't just pop round when you want or go shopping together. What I can do is say I am coming to stay for a week. This makes a nice holiday break. Friends do the same to us. We have just had friends from Ireland come to stay for the weekend.
I still go to concerts and visit the theatre. I also love taking Mikki for a walk. Always meet people I know and have a chat. My days are filled because last but not least I do translation and editing work. I'm rarely bored.
