SPECIALIZATION AS A TRANSLATOR

• The variety of the documents I have translated ranges from the field of fashion to legal issues. I have covered medical topics such as AIDS, child care and women’s health. Moreover, I have translated handbooks for employees, marketing brochures, technical summaries, debt management plans and safety manuals for farm workers. For several years, I taught a course, Problems in Translation, dedicated to the study of cultural differences, strategies and methods of translating from English to Spanish. In addition, my academic background has made me a well-rounded, resourceful researcher. This skill is strategically valuable while dealing with highly specialized documents and cultural content.

• More than 10 years of experience translating for non-profit organizations as well as translating for the private sector.
• More than 25 years of continuous, intense professional collaboration and interaction between the U.S. and the Spanish speaking world, both Spain and Latin America.
• More than 10 years coordinating the Spanish program and major at Peace College, developing the Spanish curriculum, hiring and supervising Spanish instructors, coordinating class schedules, cultural events and learning service projects, advising majors, managing departmental budgets, and setting the learning outcomes for the Spanish Department.
• More than 25 years working with the Spanish and English languages in bilingual
