Title: All Ashore
Just because you’re on a boat, doesn’t mean you have to stay on it! Hire bicycles from your base and head off and explore when you fancy a change of pace and scenery. Discover markets, museums and monuments off the tourist trail and all within a stone’s throw of your boat.
Moor up and play boules, have a game of tennis, a round of golf (especially if you’re in Ireland!), go horse riding or stop for an impromptu picnic – the choice is yours. Visit local vineyards and sample wine from the barrel before buying a bottle or two to enjoy on deck, or try local restaurants and bistros for a true taste of the land and some delicious local delicacies.
If you’re looking for something more lively, take a taxi or a bus into town for some chic shopping and nightlife, or make for the open-air swimming pools and theme parks to give the kids a real thrill! Just ask at your base for details of what to do in the area when you arrive or check out our website before you leave for lots of great ideas of things to see and do.
History and heritage
Many of our routes take you to the heart of some of Europe’s finest towns and cities – visit the medieval walled city of Carcassonne, the spectacular St Nazaire cathedral in Béziers, the beautiful city of Bruges, famous for its chocolates and lace or the Mooresque hill-top villages along the Lot valley. Discover their fascinating histories first hand from local museums and guidebooks.
Cosmopolitan Chic
If you want a change in tempo, head for the larger cities for a spot of traditional sightseeing or some nightlife entertainment. Bara för att du färdas på en båt måste du ju inte stanna ombord hela tiden! När du vill ha ombyte kan du hyra en cykel på vår bas och ge dig iväg och utforska de spännande omgivningarna. Besök marknader, museer och kulturminnesmärken – allt inom ett stenkast från båten.
Förtöj båten och spela boule, gå en golfrunda (särskilt om du är på Irland!), ta en ridtur, spela en tennismatch eller ordna en improviserad picknick – det är bara att välja. Bege dig till en lokal vingård och prova vinet direkt från tunnan innan du köper en flaska eller två att avnjuta på däck. Eller besök restauranger och kaféer för att smaka på det lokala köket och spännande delikatesser.
Är du sugen på något mer livligt, ta en taxi eller buss in till staden för lite shopping i eleganta affärer eller brusande nattliv. Eller åk till en temapark med utomhusbassäng och ge barnen en spännande upplevelse!
