After graduating in Business Management at College ( 1969 ) and at UQAC university ( 1973 ) in Canada, I joined IBM Canada where I completed the System Engineer course of studies and worked as Senior System Engineer for a few years. I build then a very strong knowledge of computer systems as well as business systems; I implemented the first bar coding based applications in eastern Canada. With the time, I had to get more and more involved in marketing activities and being extremely technical by nature, I decided to join one of my international client ( QNS Paper – Chicago Tribune ) which was contemplating the development of a then state of the art “Newsprint Roll Handling System”. Analysis, design and programming took me 2 years; the system became a reference in the North America industry and performed untouched for a decade. A process control based system, it was extensively using bar codes, early display stations, telecommunications and some robotics. I loved the experience…
So much that I went from a big challenge to a bigger challenge for 25 more years, as the person in charge of IT, developing and implementing sophisticated computerized management systems in the wholesale, retail, manufacturing, mining and even in the finance industries, within major national and international organizations, always with a strong curiosity and desire to learn, a natural tendency to work hard and finally the same strong feeling of self-accomplishment. I learned and used most of the leading computerized management systems and modern technologies, including PC’s and Internet that I heavily used for “a quarter of a century”…
I am registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
Now retired, young and having some free time, I translate documents from English to French for a limited number of organizations leading in their field and I enjoy it. I still work as hard at times, but I always keep an eye on my wonderful garden and spare some time for babysitting my grand children.
