Pine mushrooms are grown throughout a warm and cold belt, 1600-3200 metre above sea level in the province of Yunnan. These mushrooms are mostly grown among pine trees on slopes with a gradient of 20-50 degrees. Pine mushrooms contain 89.9% water, 17% crude protein, 8.7% pure protein, 5.8% fat, 61.5% carbohydrates, 8.6% fibre, 7.1% ash, rich in vitamins B1, B2, C, and PP. The pine mushroom has been proven by modern medical technology of its value on strengthening vitality, the digestive system, and pain relief, the treatment of the respiratory system and removal of phlegm as well as kills worms, treats diabetes, prevents and reduces tumours and the affect of radiation etc.
Anecdote: In 1945 during WWII, American troops dropped two atomic bombs on the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, the entire area became desolate and WWII ended. A year later, in both Hiroshima and Nagasaki the only thing that miraculously survived were these pine mushrooms. In Japan, pine mushrooms are known as “herrings of the sea”, highly prized as an offering to the emperor. Since pine mushrooms are true fungus with both endogenesis and ectogenous fungi roots, therefore, until today they are only grown in the wild and cannot be cultivated. This truly makes the pine mushroom a prized treasure and “the King of mushrooms”.
