Mouad Khateb
Arabic linguistic validation specialist with Exceptional experience in QOL PRO projects

== Summary

With a background in English and Arabic linguistics, education, and rhetoric studies, I am an experienced linguistic validation specialist for Arabic in Israel / Palestine with outstanding experience in managing QOL / PRO linguistic validation projects . For 5 years now, I have been serving as a local project manager, investigator, and linguistic validation supervisor for the major firms in the linguistic validation industry worldwide, and I oversaw the translation and linguistic validation processes of dozens of projects of different types, lengths, and target groups. In my free-time I build websites for special clients, that are particularly tailored to attract Arabic speakers; I am a renowned blogger, editor-in-cheif of a multi-author media critique blog, and a teacher of Arabic to foreign students. I am a native speaker of (Levant) Arabic, with an excellent grasp of the other Arabic dialects (of Egypt, the Gulf, and North Africa), their linguistic, phonetic, and syntactic differences. I am very fluent in English and Hebrew. I hold a BA degree in English language, BA in Arabic language and literature, BA-Honours in Linguistics, and masters in Rhetoric Studies, and I received several merit-based awards.

- Subtitling & dubbing at Oroba Arabic Translation and Localization Services
March 2012 - Present (3 years 7 months)

**

I have translated, subtitled, and dubbed numerous short and full-length clips. My last project was a 1:10 minutes documentary which required translation from English to Arabic and vice versa. During work on this project I subtitled clips and provided them in different formats like SSA and SRT with full time-code, to be incorporated in the final cut.
Testimonial from Dr. Heidi Grunebaum - University of the Western Cape:
During 2012, I have consulted extensively with Mr Khateb as a linguist and translation specialist in Arabic,
Hebrew & English. My project necessitated a linguist and translator with expertise in subtitling and dubbing. He has provided indispensable input that is both rare and valuable. Mr Khateb also brought his expertise in film translation, delivering work professionally, timeously, and in formats that migrate between different software programs.

Arabic linguistic validation specialist, with special experience in Patient-Reported Outcomes (PRO) at
Oroba Arabic Translation and Localization Services
May 2008 - Present (7 years 5 months)

For 6 years now I have been serving as the trusted project manager for 5 of the major international firms specialized in the localization and linguistic validation of Quality of Life (QOL) / Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) instruments. I handle the recruitment of local investigators, targeted patients and medical professionals, with a fantastic record of projects that I have successfully completed in various Arab countries like Palestine / Israel, Algeria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Egypt. Thanks to my vast experience, many top companies rely on me to supervise the execution of the project and closely follow up with the local consultants and investigators, offering guidance, advice and training on field research, recruitment, and cognitive debriefing. I help my local consultants write conclusive reports about their methodology, respondents’ interaction and impressions, issues that respondents faced, and recommendations for enhancing the questionnaires based on the respondents feedback, and my own expertise as a linguist. Great efforts are therefore invested to ensure the final questionnaire is perfect in terms of clarity, readability, intelligibility, and conformity to Arabic grammar and syntax rules. I am proud for having produced countless Arabic PRO / QOL questionnaires with exquisite dedication, accuracy, professionalism, and perfect results. 1 recommendation available upon request

"Mouad is an an excellent Arabic to English translator and successfully completed a very difficult project. Where most of the major translations companies in Israel could not find some suitable, Mouad was able and willing. He followed a discussion in Arabic of 10 people and transcribed the conversation in real time on his laptop in English. As a result I was able to follow the discussion. He skill and professionalism were excellent and I highly recommend him for any Arabic translation project."

"Mouad was my arabic tutor at the Alliance Francaise in Cape Town, RSA from July to December 2012. He was a consciencious and enthusiatic teacher, striking a good balance in the teaching of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. His grounding in linguistics gives him a superior ability in explaining the grammar of this complex language and his IT skills meant that homework assignments employed a variety of media. He was also available between classes to answer any queries we had. As a result I enjoyed the course whilst learning much. I would highly recommend him as a tutor and translator."
— Rosamund Jane Southgate, was Mouad's client

"Mouad was my Arabic tutor for the ‘Initial Arabic A Course’ at the University of Cape Town from March to June 2012. During these tutorials he assisted us in practicing our conversational Arabic and in understanding aspects of our course work which we found challenging. He was always willing to provide extra assistance outside hours and reiterated this offer as we approached our exams. Furthermore, he sought to ground the language in culture by teaching us idioms and the meaning behind words and phrases. His dedication to his task and love for the Arabic language was a great motivation to us to work hard to master Arabic. I thoroughly enjoyed learning Arabic and am hoping to take it up again in the future. This may not have been the case had the teaching not been so good! I am truly grateful to Mouad and our lecturer for giving me such a solid grounding in this language. I highly recommend Mouad for future Arabic tutoring or teaching posts." — Giselle Warton, was Mouad's client
