Source text - Arabic دمشق تلمح لأول مرة لمسؤولية إسرائيل في مقتل مغنية
أعلن وليد المعلم وزير الخارجية السوري أنه سيتم قريباً الكشف عن نتائج التحقيق في حادث اغتيال القائد العسكري في حزب الله عماد مغنية في دمشق.
ووعد المعلم بتقديم ادلة قاطعة على هوية من قام بالاغتيال ومن كان وراءه، ملمحاً لأول مرة إلى مسؤولية إسرائيلية.
وكان المعلم قد صرح الخميس بأن التحقيقات التي تجريها اجهزة الامن السورية حول مقتل مغنية تسير بشكل جيد، وقال إن الحادث "جريمة ارهابية".
وجاء تصريح وزير خارجية سورية خلال المؤتمر الصحفي المشترك الذي عقده مع نظيره الايراني منوشهر متكي، الذي يزور دمشق حاليا بعد مشاركته في تشييع جنازة مغنية.
ونفى المعلم وجود صلة بين مقتل مغنية ومقتل رئيس الوزراء اللبناني الراحل رفيق الحريري الا من حيث التوقيت. "العقوبات بالمثل"
وفي اول رد فعل على قرار البيت الابيض بتشديد العقوبات المفروضة على سورية، والذي يشمل مسؤولين حكوميين ومتعاملين معهم، قال وزير الخارجية السوري وليد المعلم ان دمشق سترد على تلك العقوبات "بعقوبات".
وقال المعلم ان "هذه ليست المرة الاولى التي تتخذ فيها الولايات المتحدة اجراءات ضد سورية، لكننا في هذه المرة سنعاقب الولايات المتحدة".
وكان الرئيس الامريكي جورج بوش قد قرر توسيع نطاق العقوبات المفروضة منذ عام 2004 والتي تشمل كل الصادرات الامريكية الى سورية ما عدا الاغذية والمواد الطبية.
وقد اقرت حينها هذه العقوبات بسبب اتهام واشنطن لدمشق "بدعم الارهاب الدولي وتقويض الجهود الامريكية في العراق".
Translation - English For the first time Damascus hints at Israel’s responsibility in the killing of Mughniyeh.
Walid Al-Moualem, the Syrian Foreign Minister, declared today in Damascus that the results of the investigation into the murder the Hezbollah military leader Imad Mughniyeh would soon be released.
Al- Moualem promised to present conclusive evidence regarding the identities of the killer and those behind him, hinting for the first time at Israel’s responsibility.
On Thursday Al- Moualem made it clear that the investigations which were being run by Syrian Security Forces into the death of Mughniyyah were being done properly, and he said that the incident was a “terrorist crime”.
The Syrian foreign minister’s statement came during a joint press conference which was held by his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki, who is currently visiting Damascus after attending Mugniyeh’s funeral.
Al-Moualem denied that that there was any connection between the killing of Mugniyeh and the killing of the late Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri, other than the timing.
“Similar sanctions”
In an initial response to the White House’s decision to intensify the sanctions imposed on Syria, which includes some government officials and trade relations, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Walid Al-Moualem said that Damascus would respond to these sanctions “with sanctions”.
Al-Moualem said that “this is not the first time that the United States has taken measures against Syria, but this time we will punish the United States”.
The American President, George Bush, had decided to expand the scope of the imposed sanctions in 2004, which included all American exports other than food and medical supplies.
These sanctions were imposed at the time because of Washington’s accusation that Damascus was “supporting international terrorism and wrecking American efforts in Iraq”.

I began translating in 2003 whilst still at the University of Leeds. I was appointed the official translator for Leeds Grand Mosque and during that time, and after graduation, I translated political and medical documents for local clients.
Since 2005 I have translated several sections of classical Islamic texts and articles, and upon qualifying with a DipTransIoLET in 2007 I began translating several government plans, including military and construction plans.
Towards the end of the year I translated a book entitled ‘Islam or the Flood’, due to be published soon, which is of the political/religious genre. I also translated a lengthy tract on the Great Syrian Revolt.
I’m currently translating a series of large theological texts as part of a long-term project for a new publisher and in recent months I have been translating many official documents, such as birth, marriage and death certificates, ID cards, health cards, report cards etc.
I am able to translate both classical and modern Arabic and I always to try to be professional and meticulous, ensuring that my translations represent the originals as accurately as possible. This includes not just the language but tables, borders, shading, font size etc.
In March 2008 I was admitted as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London (MCIL).
