I have spent the last ten years of my career working and living in South Korea. I was responsible for teaching freshman-level English to university students, and preparing them for international study. During this time, I mastered the Korean language, earned a TOPIK level 6 and the KIIP program with level 5.
At the university, outside of the classroom, I I was also responsible for a wide variety of different translation and interpretation duties. Due to my language skills, I was often asked by the head of my department, other professors in that department, and members of the administration to assist in translating and proofreading for accuracy translations between English and Korean. Some examples of these documents include contracts and MOU agreements, materials for websites, scripts for presentations and speeches, as well as assisting in the translation of theses from various academic faculties into English from Korean. It was necessary to look at the grammar, syntax and style of both languages in order to ensure that he translation was accurate. |
