English to Bengali: Bengali Translation of "How do people get new ideas" by Issac Asimov
Source text - English How do people get new ideas? Presumably, the process of creativity, whatever it is, is essentially the same in all its branches and varieties, so that the evolution of a new art form, a new gadget, a new scientific principle, all involve common factors. We are most interested in the “creation” of a new scientific principle or a new application of an old one, but we can be general here. One way of investigating the problem is to consider the great ideas of the past and see just how they were generated. Unfortunately, the method of generation is never clear even to the “generators” themselves.
But what if the same earth-shaking idea occurred to two men, simultaneously and independently? Perhaps, the common factors involved would be illuminating. Consider the theory of evolution by natural selection, independently created by Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace. There is a great deal in common there. Both traveled to far places, observing strange species of plants and animals and the manner in which they varied from place to place. Both were keenly interested in finding an explanation for this, and both failed until each happened to read Malthus’s “Essay on Population.” Both then saw how the notion of overpopulation and weeding out (which Malthus had applied to human beings) would fit into the doctrine of evolution by natural selection (if applied to species generally).
Translation - Bengali কিভাবে মানুষ নতুন নতুন আইডিয়া পেয়ে থাকে ? প্রক্রিয়া যাই হোক না কেন, মানুষের সৃজনশীলতার মূল ব্যাপারটা সমস্ত মাধ্যমে একই ভাবে কাজ করে। হোক তা কোন নতুন প্রযুক্তি, বৈজ্ঞানিক আবিষ্কার অথবা শিল্প। অতীতের দারুণ সব আইডিয়া কিভাবে এসেছিল মানুষের মাথায়, তা জানলে আমরা হয়ত সৃজনশীলতার রহস্য খানিকটা বুঝতে পারতাম । কিন্তু অনেক সময় এই আইডিয়ার পেছনের মানুষটা নিজেই ঠিকমত জানে না যে, সেই আইডিয়া সে কিভাবে পেয়েছে।
কিন্তু যদি একই দুনিয়া কাঁপানো আইডিয়া আলাদা ভাবে আলাদা দুজন মানুষের মনে একই সাথে আসে? তখন সেই দুই ঘটনার মধ্যেকার মিলগুলো খেয়াল করে আমরা সৃজনশীলতার রহস্য খানিকটা বোঝার চেষ্টা করে দেখতে পারি। এই ক্ষেত্রে “প্রাকৃতিক নির্বাচনের মাধ্যমে বিবর্তন” তত্ত্বের দুই তাত্ত্বিক চার্লস ডারউইন ও আলফ্রেড ওয়ালেসের কাহিনীটা একটু ঘুরে দেখা যেতে পারে। এই দুই মহান ব্যক্তি সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা ভাবে গবেষণা করে এই প্রাকৃতিক নির্বাচনের এই তত্ত্বে পৌঁছেছিলেন প্রায় একই সময়ে।
দুইজনের বেলাতেই বেশ কিছু অসাধারণ মিল দেখা যায়। দুজনেই অনেক জায়গায় ঘুরেছেন, অনেক অদ্ভুত প্রাণি ও উদ্ভিদকে পর্যবেক্ষণ করেছেন, জায়গার বা পরিবেশের ভিন্নতার কারণে তাদের মধ্যে যেসব ভিন্ন বৈশিষ্ট্য তৈরি হয় তা খেয়াল করেছে। কেন হয় এরকম, তার উত্তর তারা দুইজনই অবিরাম সন্ধান করে চলেছিলেন। এইসময় তারা দুইজনই ম্যালথাসের “Essay on Population.” পড়লেন এবং একই সাথে বুঝতে পারলেন কিভাবে ম্যালথাসের মানুষের উপর লেখা জনসংখ্যা বিষয়ক তত্ত্ব প্রাণি ও উদ্ভিদের বেলাতেও মিলে যাচ্ছে। কোন জায়গার জনসংখ্যা অতিরিক্ত বেড়ে গেলে কিভাবে প্রাকৃতিকভাবেই সেটা নিয়ন্ত্রিত হয় তা-ই ছিল ম্যালথাসের গবেষণার বিষয় বস্তু। ডারউইন ও ওয়ালেস দুজনেই দেখলেন যে, এই তত্ত্ব প্রাকৃতিক নির্বাচনের মাধ্যমে বিবর্তনের তত্ত্বের সাথে কিভাবে খাপ খেয়ে যাচ্ছে।

Source text - English I grew up in Osaka, in a district filled with family-run workshops and craftsmen. My after-school hours were spent with woodcarvers, glass-blowers, and metalworkers, who took care of me and taught me their skills. My grandmother raised me single-handedly. After my work had been featured in an architecture magazine, she passed away peacefully. She approached everything pragmatically. One of her theories was that it doesn’t make sense to cart textbooks to and from school, so she ordered me to finish every assignment before leaving school each day, which meant I had no homework. People thought the idea was bizarre, but in the end, I found it practical. She taught me that it’s okay to be adamant about your beliefs as long as you find logic in them. This is something I’ve been exercising throughout my career.
At age 14, a seemingly small event made a decisive impact on my life. My house was being rebuilt, and I saw a young carpenter working so incessantly that he even forgot to eat. I was struck by his attitude and commitment to the job; he ignited my interest in the world of architecture.
