Bio

About Me

I am a researcher/writer in philosophy and arts, and currently working on my book about the riddle of human consciousness. For the last five years, however, being as a science enthusiast and aspiring academic, my daytime job was to provide graduate students with personalized linguistic service for their English papers. I have translated hundreds of theses and articles regarding various scientific fields including physics, biology, neuroscience, psychology, medicine. Now I want to expand my horizon and become a full-on freelance translator.

Modern day philosophers are the ultimate all-rounders of academic fields because of the nature of the challenge they are collectively facing. While science has been extremely successful in answering many of the serious questions concerning our existence in this physical reality, and thus eliminating the classical role of philosophy, the final frontiers of science are ironically being filled with ever-growing doubts and confusion. That is because those important unanswered questions require multidisciplinary approach and convergent scientific thinking, and no scientist can be Mr. know-it-all, no matter how good he is in his few chosen areas of expertise. Take the study of consciousness: it requires knowledge of quantum physics, theory of computation, evolutionary biology, cognitive neuroscience, and even liberal arts, all at the same time.

That is where the role of modern philosophy kicks in. We are the critics of the science itself, and our sole mission is to bring about logically coherent thinking from the ground-up approach—after all, what everyone is looking for is some ground-breaking answer to their own existence.

And such diverse erudition could as well be your asset, if you include me in your freelancer pool. I can read through the most intellectually challenging texts and understand them like they are some entertainment. I can deal with highly abstract concepts and sophisticated logic with no problem, and convey all the subtleties across the linguistic barrier between this Greek/Latin-based lexicon and the Chinese-based one. I place high value on work ethics and am ready to adapt myself to the niche needs. I am also a firm believer of human creativity that machine translation may never fully replace.
