Bio

Having provided quality
translation, editing, and writing services from German to English for over 20
years, I pay special attention to cultural norms and getting the
appropriate translation for what is 'meant' not just what is 'said.'  So
often Germans borrow English words and give them their own meaning, and this
must be understood within the cultural and written context.  Having lived
in Germany for 15 years gave me the opportunity to learn and apply this concept
as I worked for one of the largest global corporations, KPMG Treuhand, GmbH, (transferring
back and forth between languages within auditing/tax/and legal terminology) and
then did freelance work translating and editing German to English for a
missionary society widening my scope of language to include philosophical/religious texts.

I am a
native English speaker, having grown up and resided in the U.S. most of my
life, but was raised with German as a second language due to my German roots.
This give me an edge over other translators, as I am practically a 'native
speaker' in both languages.

Working
in the medical field for a total of 5 years, both as Administrative Assistant
in the U.S. and as a medical translator/editor for the past 3 years, has
enabled me to accumulate extensive medical terminology in both languages.

I have
also compiled an extensive (165-page) medical terminology glossary while
working on editing translations in my role as Quality Control Editor for
German-to-English medical reports for a government contract. This not only
includes medical terminology and phrases but also their precise contextual
application into the U.S. English language using current medical standard
norms.

I am currently working on a
historical research writing project spanning two decades, researching primarily
German historical sources on the topic of Germany’s military and political tyranny
of the 20
th century.
