Source text - English Commercial bribery is the bribery of a private party rather than a Government Official, usually the bribery of an employee or agent of another person or company in order to obtain or retain a business advantage from their employer or principal. Remember that the other company is relying on their employee to act in their best interest, and a bribe undermines that duty. If your action causes the other agent or employee to behave without good faith, or in breach of trust to their employer or principal, this may be considered commercial bribery. Therefore, you may not offer, promise or give a thing of value to another person to induce or reward that person to improperly perform their function in relation to their employer or principal. Similarly, it is forbidden to give something of value if you know that the recipient is not permitted to receive it or that it would be improper for the recipient to accept it.
One possible example of commercial bribery would be the giving of a secret gift or kickback to persuade a procurement manager to purchase, on behalf of his company, a good or service offered by the company of the person giving the bribe. But keep in mind that commercial bribery is not limited to lower-ranking individuals. Bribes are sometimes paid to top executives to persuade them to commit their company to some course of action beneficial to the giver of the bribe. The key to understanding commercial bribery is the undermining of the person’s duty to their company.

Source text - English Coca Cola had always been more focused on its economic bottom line than on global warming, but when the company lost a lucrative operating license in India because of a serious water shortage there in 2004, things began to change.
After a decade of increasing hits to Coke's balance sheet as global droughts dried up the water needed to produce its soda, the company has embraced the idea of climate change as an economically disruptive force.
"Increased droughts, more unpredictable variability, 100-year floods every two years," said Jeffrey Seabright, Coke's vice president of enviroment and water resources, listing the problems that he said were also disrupting the company's supply of sugar cane and sugar beets, as well as citrus for its fruit juices. "When we look at our most essential ingredients, we see those events as threats."
Coke reflects a growing view among US business leaders and mainstream economists who see global warming as an economically disruptive force that contributes to lower gross domestic products, higher food and commodity costs, broken supply chains and increased financial risk. Their position is at striking odds with the long-standing argument, advanced by the coal industry and others, that policies to curb carbon emissions are more economically harmful than the impacts of climate change.
"The bottom line is that the policies will increase the cost of carbon and electricity," said Roger Bezdek, an economist who produced a report form the coal lobby that was release this week. "Even the most conservative estimates peg the social benefit of carbon-based fuels as 50 times greater than its supposed social cost."
Some tycoons are no longer listening. At the Swiss resort of Davos, corporate leaders and politicians gathered for the annual four-day World Economic Forum will devote all of Friday to panels and talks on the threat of climate change. The emphasis will be less about saving polar bears and more about promoting economic self-interest.
In Philadelphia, The American Economic Association inaugurated as its new president this month William D. Nordhaus, a Yale economist and one of the world's foremost experts on the economics of climate change.
"There is clearly a growing recognition of this in the broader academic economic community", said Nordhaus, who has spend decades researching the economic impacts of both climate change and of policies designed to mitigate climate change.
In Washington, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim has put climate change at the center of the bank's mision, citing global warming as chief contributor to rising global poverty rates and falling GDPs in developing nations. In Europe, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Paris-based club of 34 industrialized nations, has begun to warn of the steep costs of increased carbon pollution.
Nike, which has more than 700 factories in 49 countries, many in Southeast Asia, is also speaking out because of extreme weather that is disrupting its supply chain. In 2008, floods temporarily shut down four Nike factories in Thailand, and the company remains concerned about rising droughts in regions that produce cotton, which the company uses in its athletic clothes.
"That puts less cotton on the market, the price goes up, and you have market volatility," said Hannah Jones, the company's vice president of sustainability and innovation. Nike has already reported the impact of climate change on water supplies on its financial risk disclosure forms to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Both Nike and Coke are responding internally: Coke uses water-conservation technologies, and Nike is using more synthetic material that is less dependent on weather. At Davos and in global capitals, the companies are also lobbying governments to enact enviromentally friendly policies.-

Source text - English Dolphins are among an elite group of species, including humans, great apes and elephants, that have the ability to recognize themselves in the mirror, according to a study described in the May issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, which found that dolphins not only can recognize themselves in a mirror but also can notice changes in their appearance.
Diana Reiss, a scientist at the Osborn Laboratory of Marine Sciences of the New York Aquarium, and Lori Marino, an Emory University scientist, conducted the study involving two dolphins from the New York Aquarium. Marino and Reiss said their findings "provide definitive evidence that the two dolphins in this study used the mirror...to investigate the parts of their body that were marked".
The mark test was devised by Gordon Gallup, Jr., a psychology profesor at the State University of New York in Albany. He used the test to demonstrate self-recognition by chimpanzees. While the test has been used with many other animals, including primates, elephants, and parrots, this is the first time non-primates have reacted to a mirror by using it to examine themselves.
Elephants have also passed this test, according to a new finding by researchers at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, Emory University, and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in New York.
This newly found presence of mirror self-recognition in elephants, previously predicted due to their well-known social complexity, is thought to relate to empathetic tendencies and the ability to distinguish oneself from others, a characteristic that evolved independently in several branches of animals.-
