During a time of seeking more knowledge about
the beasts of Trudvang, I willingly admit that I
became obsessed with mushrooms. Most had no
special traits or quirks other than being good to
eat, like the krustall mushroom from which the dwarves brew
mead, but one mushroom deserves its place in this bestiary:
the firbloodrisk. It is a horrid beast whose effects will keep
even the bravest explorer from walking in the deep forests.
The first time I heard of the firbloodrisk was in the Majnjordian
town of Maelduna. There was a man there who discovered the
mushroom by chance when he visited the Valkarook forest. He
told me that the firbloodrisk begins as a parasitic flower on the
bark of fir trees and spreads its seeds to gain hold and sprout
its roots in living flesh. Slowly but surely, the mushroom breaks
down the meat and makes it rot. The man told me that such a
fungus had taken hold in his arm and that he had no other
option but to remove the limb, for the mushroom had grown
to eat his whole forearm. As if this was not bad enough, he
explained that when the mushroom has killed a body and eaten
all the meat, it evolves into a new, more powerful stage of being.
Within a few days of the body dying, the firbloodrisk creates
a symbiosis with the skeleton and harvests life once more. This
time the mushroom is the one in control, and its only purpose
seems to be to infect new bodies. In this way, the man explained,
one can see wandering skeletons that have been reanimated and
controlled as if they were an extension of the consciousness of
the mushroom.

Durante un tiempo, en el que estuve intentando ampliar mi conocimiento sobre las bestias de Trudvang, he de reconocer que me obsesioné con el estudio de los hongos. La mayoría no tenían características especiales o particularidades que no fuesen ser comestibles, como por ejemplo la seta krustall que los enanos emplean para elaborar hidromiel. Sin embargo, existe un hongo en concreto que merece su lugar en este bestiario: el kreofagos. Es una especie horrible cuyos efectos mantendrán alejados de los bosques profundos incluso a los exploradores más valientes.
La primera vez que oí hablar de este hongo fue en la ciudad majnjordiana de Maelduna. Allí se encontraba un hombre que descubrió su existencia mientras visitaba el bosque del Grajo. Me contó que el kreofagos comienza como un parásito en la corteza de los abetos y se propaga mediante esporas para poder rebrotar en la carne de seres vivos. Lento pero seguro, el hongo devora y descompone la carne. También me dijo que aquel hongo se había hospedado en su brazo y que no había tenido más remedio que amputar el miembro una vez que el kreofagos había crecido y devorado todo su antebrazo. Y por si esto no fuese lo suficientemente horrible, explicó entonces que, cuando el hongo consume toda la carne de un cuerpo, evoluciona y se convierte en un ser incluso más poderoso. Pocos días después de que el individuo muera, el kreofagos crea una simbiosis con su esqueleto para devolverlo a la vida. Esta vez, es el hongo el que tiene el control, y su único propósito es infectar nuevos cuerpos. De esta forma, es posible ver esqueletos reanimados que son controlados y actúan como una extensión de la conciencia del hongo.

1. Place the Mainland Game Board in the center of the table.
2. Separate out the 8 Basic hotel tiles and place them on the
first column of the City Center. All remaining tiles are kept in the
DinoGenics facility tile bag.
3. Shuffle the DNA, Manipulation, and Breaking News cards
separately and place them on their designated spots of the
Mainland Game Board.
4. Draw one DNA card face up to each space of the DNA Market
on the Mainland Game Board and then draw four additional
DNA cards face up to the Boneyard.
5. Draw the top Breaking News card to the upcoming slot of the
Newsroom. This first card will take effect at the start of Season 2.
6. Each player must choose a faction color and place a Faction
Token on the outer VP track of the Mainland Game Board.

Bio
I have a bilingual background and a deep knowledge of Spanish and French cultures.
In university, I graduated in Art History and I obtained a Master's Degree
in Classical Archaeology. This has helped me specialise in tourism,
travelling and cultural translations.
In
2016 I decided to change the course of my career and pursue my passion for writing and languages. That same year I took a professional translation course and a copy-editor course to get up to speed with the theoretical basis of the profession.
During my studies, I was accepted as copy-editor in Nowtilus, a Spanish publishing house. There, I worked editing non-fiction books about art, history, science and philosophy. It gave me a great insight into publishing procedures and improved my copy-editing knowledge.
In 2017 I decided to start my freelancer business encouraged by my first client and a steady stream of work. Since then, I have worked in literary translations, e-commerce post-editing, website translations and game localisation.
