The reason for that is, while pursuing resource efficiency, each process step has been optimized in such a way that it also causes negative consequences for the flow as a whole. I.e. overproduction, running as large batches/campaigns as possible, all in order to bring positive effects for resource efficiency. The endeavor is to achieve a state of both high resource efficiency and high flow efficiency, but this can only happen if the
components of an effective flow are fully understood.
