Source text - Japanese 『ファイナルファンタジーXIV』（以下、『FFXIV』）のプレイヤーであれば、“メディアツアー”という単語を目にしたり、耳にすると、「いよいよ拡張が近いのだな」と実感する人も多いだろう。そう、メディアツアーとは最新拡張パッケージのプレビューイベントのことで、リリースが迫る待望の拡張パッケージが、世界に向けて初披露される瞬間なのである。
Translation - English If you’re a FINAL FANTASY XIV player, (hereby referred to as FFXIV), I’m sure there are many of you that will think “Ah, another expansion is coming soon” whenever you see or hear the words “Media Tour”. You’d be right, as Media Tours are a preview event for the latest expansions in the series, and are the moment in time in which the world gets it’s first exhibition of what’s to come in the long-awaited expansions on the eve of their release.
This time around the Media Tour was held in London, England from the 15th – 17th of May 2019 (local time), and San Francisco, USA from the 21st – 23rd of May 2019 (local time), and we were lucky enough to participate in the London event. The event hall was in a cultural facility found right in the centre of London, a greenhouse known as the Barbican Conservatory in the Barbican Centre. Within this conservatory you’ll find over 2000 different types of plants living in abundance, which really makes it feel like a tropical world within a city. The reason this place was chosen as the location of the Media Tour is no doubt due to the glass-covered rooftop. That is to say that it’s reminiscent of the “Crystarium” – the player’s town in SHADOWBRINGERS.
