I am a freelance translator, owner of a translation agency and outsourcer since 1995 handling all 11 official languages of South Africa (i.e. Zulu, Xhosa, Swazi, Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Tswana, Sesotho, Tsonga/Shangane and Venda besides English and Afrikaans).
I specialise in the pharmaceutical, medical, chemical, nutritional and cosmetic fields and have extensive experience with a variety of these types of documents (e.g. batch manufacturing and registration documents, patents, patient information leaflets and informed consent forms, clinical trial protocols and reports, scientific articles, monographs from pharmacopoeia, advertisements and promotional material, package inserts, etc.).
My clients are mostly international pharmaceutical companies, clinical trial organisations and language bureaus.
I hold a doctoral degree in Organic Chemistry, a Diploma in Tertiary Education and certificates in translation. I was professor in Medicinal Chemistry in the Faculty of Health Sciences of North-West University until December 2011. I published more than 65 scientific articles in national and international journals, mainly in Medicinal Chemistry.
I was a coworker of the Afrikaans spellchecker for Microsoft Word developed by North-West University (2004).
I was a coworker of the Dictionary for the Health Sciences developed by the University of Stellenbosch (2011).
I am a freelance consultant for the National Terminology Services of the Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology (Pretoria, South Africa) and for Beeld newspaper on medical, pharmaceutical and chemical terminology.
