Source text - English A songster by the name of Baby Bundy was accustomed to thrill his church and congregation every Sunday and Thursday in New York by singing anthems, solos, and old hymn tunes. Once in the midst of a long cadenza a dragon fly stole into his mouth and was almost swallowed. Instead of giving forth his next note Baby Bundy exhaled to the congregation's wonder the golden fly, who came sailing straight ahead to freedom.
The dragon fly lived near the lily pond and had for companions midges, golden fish, frogs with blazing green on their coats, and a youthful cannibal named Mud Toe. The cannibal was very doleful because he knew no other cannibals and furthermore it was against the law at the lily pond to eat anything but vegetables. Sometimes the very thought of another vegetable made him scream so loudly the golden fish, the butterflies, and frogs all fled in fear and trembling. The dragon fly, however, who had, after all, been swallowed in church by the songster, was not afraid, for he knew, even if the cannibal swallowed him he'd soon give him up again. Nobody can enjoy a dragon fly in his stomach.
The dragon fly said, one day, "Cannibal, what is the matter with you, that you mope and scowl and droop?"
"The matter, Dragon Fly, is I know nly fish and turtles, and I have o eat sea kale," he complained, "when it's people I long for."
Translation - Swedish En sångare vid namn Baby Bundy hade för vana att hänföra sin kyrka och församling varje söndag och torsdag i New York genom att sjunga hymner, solon och lovsånger. En gång mitt i en utdragen kadens flög en trollslända in i hans mun och undgick med nöd och näppe att slinka ner i halsen. Istället för att låta höra nästa ton utstötte Baby Bundy till församlingens häpnad en gyllene trollslända, som flög rakt ut i friheten.
Trollsländan bodde i närheten av näckrosdammen och hans sällskap bestod av myggor, guldfiskar, grodor med glänsande grönt skinn och en ung kannibal med namnet Lertå. Kannibalen var väldigt sorgsen eftersom han inte kände några andra kannibaler och dessutom var det mot lagen att äta något annat än grönsaker vid näckrosdammen. Ibland kunde blotta tanken på ännu en grönsak få honom att skrika så högt att guldfiskarna, fjärilarna och grodorna alla flydde med hjärtat i halsgropen. Men trollsländan, som när allt kom omkring hade svalts i kyrkan av sångaren, var inte rädd, eftersom han visste, att även om kannibalen svalde honom, skulle han snart låta honom flyga igen. Ingen kan ha glädje av en trollslända i magen.
En dag sa trollsländan: ”Hör nu, Kannibal, vad är det som får dej att grubbla, bliga och sloka så där?”
”Saken är den, Trollslända, att jag bara känner fiskar och sköldpaddor, och är tvungen att äta strandkål”, beklagade han sig, ”när det är människor jag längtar efter.”
