Mesotrione 95% TECH was evaluated for its effect on fertility, lactation performance and development of offspring in a 2-generation reproduction study in Sprague-Dawley rats with two matings per generation. Each test group consisted of 10 male and 20 female rats and Mesotrione was fed to the rats at dietary concentrations of 0, 10, 1000, and 5000 ppm (0, 0.5, 50, and 250 mg/kg/day). At the start of the study, the F0 generation was ca. 32 to 39 days old and was treated for 70 days prior to the first mating.
The pups of the F2b generation were sacrificed and necropsied at an age of 4 weeks, and the major 18 tissues were then histopathologically examined.
Results and conclusion
No effects related to treatment with the test material were observed on length of gestation, and parturition was normal; moreover, there were no effects on the results of behavioural assessments made on day 25 of gestation or postnatal day 17. Salivation after dosing was seen at all doses, including the controls. This effect, which was most severe at the highest dose, was considered to be a consequence of distaste for the formulation.
There were no effects of the treatment on the weights of the reproductive organs of dams or offspring. There were no effects on brain weight, length and width among the pups during the test. Neuropathological examination of the offspring did not reveal any findings that were related to treatment.
There was no other reproductive effects, were seen in rats at doses of up to 0.3 mg/kg/day.
From the data, it appears that Mesotrione 95% Tech is unlikely to cause reproductive effects.

В ходе испытаний было оценено влияние Мезотрион 95% ТЕХ. на фертильность, лактацию и развитие потомства в исследовании размножения на 2-х поколениях крыс Спраг-Доули, с двумя вязками на поколение. Каждая испытуемая группа состояла из 10 самцов и 20 самок. Мезотрион 95% ТЕХ. добавлялся крысам в пищевой рацион в концентрациях 0, 10, 1000, и 5000 промилле (0, 0.5, 50, и 250 мг/кг/день). В начале исследования, возраст поколения F 0 составлял ок. 32 - 39 дней от роду, крысы получали препарат в течение 70 дней до первого спаривания.
Детеныши поколения F 2b были умерщвлены и вскрыты в возрасте 4 недель, затем были изучены 18 основных тканей на выявление гистопатологий.
8. Результаты и выводы
Никакого воздействия, связанного с терапией исследуемым веществом на продолжительность беременности не наблюдалось, роды проходили нормально; более того, не наблюдалось влияния на результаты оценки поведения на 25 день беременности или день 17 после рождения потомства. слюнотечение после введения дозировки было отмечено при всех дозах, включая контрольные группы.
