Source text - Arabic عالجتُ، في العدد الماضي، مسألة سلطة الزعيم غير المحدودة في أساسها النظري وفي مقتضياتها الراهنة. فَمَن فاته من الدارسين قراءة البحث المتعلّق بهذه المسألة، فليعُد إلى العدد السابق.
قلت في عرض المقال السابق ”وإذا درسنا جيّدًا تاريخ الحزب، ودقّقنا في الاختبارات الّتي مرّت به، وجدنا هذه السلطة غير المحدودة للزعيم الضمان الوحيد لسلامة هذا الحزب، الّذي يمثّل نهضة الأمّة السورية. ولولا هذه السلطة لكان الأرجح أن تفكّك الحزب، وإن بقيت العقيدة، من جراء المناورات الّتي قام بها أفراد جلبوا معهم إلى داخل الحزب أمراض النفسية الانحطاطية، وحاولوا أن يحوّلوا الحزب إلى ميدان تتبارى فيه منافعهم الخصوصية وأهواؤهم“.
من هذا القول، آخذ النقطة الابتدائية للدرس الجديد الّذي يشتمل عليه هذا المقال في ضمان سلامة الحزب، بواسطة سلطة الزعيم التشريعية والتنفيذية الّتي بايعه القوميون عليها مبايعةً بقسم صريح النصّ.
لنعُد قليلاً إلى الوراء، إلى أصيل القرن الماضي، ولنبدأ نتتبّع سير الأفعال السياسية والاجتماعية بين السوريين منذ ذلك الوقت حتّى اليوم. فماذا نرى في هذه السياسة، وما هي النتيجة الّتي تحصل لنا من هذا الاستعراض؟
Translation - English I had addressed in the last issue the question of the unlimited authority of the Leader in its theoretical basis and current requirements. For anyone who had missed it, please review the research concerning this topic in the last issue.
I had said in the previous article, "And if we study the history of the Party well, and focus on the tests it went through, we find that the unlimited authority exercised by the Leader was the only guarantor of the Party's integrity, which represents the renaissance of the Syrian nation. Without this authority, the disintegration of the Party would have been very likely, even if the ideology remained intact, because of the individuals who brought with them diseases of corruption and tried to turn the Party into a field of battle over their personal gains and desires."
This statement is the primary starting point of the new lesson embodied in this article about ensuring the integrity of the Party, through the legislative and executive authority of the Leader whom nationalists had explicitly sworn allegiance to.
Let us back track a little, to the twilight of the last century, and follow the course of political and social interaction amongst Syrians since that time until today. What do we see in this process, and what is the result we gather from this review?

طيب النشر كأنفاس الخزامى
والشذا المحيي بسوريا العظاما
غادر الشام وبيروت وهاما
في بلاد حرة لم تحن هاما
وأنوف لم يقبلن الرغاما
خبرينا كيف نقربك السلاما؟
هذا هو المقطع الأول من هذه القصيدة النادرة. وندورها ليس في جمالها، بل في قبحها. ولا في عزها، بل في ذلها. فقلما وقف إنسان يمثل أمته تجاه أمة غريبة وفاه بمثل هذا القول المخزي.
Translation - English Tell us how do we greet thee
A greeting fragrant like the breath of lavender
When the fragrance that revives the bones in Syria
Has left the Levant and Beirut and wandered away
In free countries that never bent their heads
And noses that never touched the dust
Tell us how do we greet thee?
This is the first stanza of this rare poem. Its rarity does not arise from its beauty; rather, from its ugliness; and not from its dignity; rather, from its humiliation. It is a rare sight that a person who represents his nation stands before a foreign nation and speaks such shameful words.

Source text - English In the course of general life we meet many people. Some we will never see again and some will remain around living on the fringes of our time and space. Few, however, will pierce our life and stamp their mark on it and become permanent fixtures like pilot-fish alongside whales.
Antoine fits into this real-life scenario very neatly. Antoine and I met for the first time in 1994, during a short trip to the homeland, and bonded instantly. Hardly surprising considering that we shared a genuine interest in our nation and a common concern for its future. At the time, our beloved party was going through a turbulent phase, as it is today, and the crisis is all that we could talk about. Again hardly surprising considering that its identity and outlook had become an essential part of our own identity and outlook on life. At first, and understandably so, Antoine was somewhat reserved about expressing his genuine feelings about the crisis, but after a few glasses of Arak he opened up.
Translation - Arabic نقابل في مشوار الحياة الكثير من الناس، فلا نرى بعضهم مرة أخرى، ويبقى البعض الآخر على هامش الزمان والمكان في حياتنا، وقليلٌ هم الذين يخترقون حياتنا ويضعون بصمتهم عليها ويلازمون حياتنا في ديمومتها ملازمة أسماك الزامور للحيتان.
ينطبق هذا المشهد الواقعي تماماً على أنطون، حيث التقينا أول مرة في عام 1994 خلال رحلة قصيرة للوطن فترابطنا على الفور. ولم يكن ذلك مستغرباً فقد كان يجمعنا اهتمامٌ أصيل بأمتنا وحرصٌ مشترك على مستقبلها. وفي ذلك الحين، كان حزبُنا الحبيب يمر بمرحلةٍ مضطربة، كحاله اليوم، وكانت تلك المحنة محور حديثنا بأكمله. وليس بمستغرب أيضا أن هوية الحزب وتوجهه كانا قد صارا جزءاً لا يتجزأ من هويتنا ونظرتنا للحياة. كان أنطون في البداية متحفظاً بعض الشيء في التعبير عن مكنون مشاعره حول الأزمة، ولكن بعد احتساء كؤوسٍ قليلة من شراب العَرق أفضى بما يُكن في صدره.
وصارت تلك عادتنا. ففي كل زيارةٍ للوطن كنا نلتقي فأجد المتعة في الاستماع لأفكاره واهتماماته وبالطبع معرفة ما استجد من أمور الحزب. وكنا نلتمس السلوى لعقولنا المكدودة باحتساء شراب العَرق الوطني.

Source text - Arabic فضل صوم رمضان وقيامه
سلامٌ عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته، أما بعد:
فيا أيها المسلمون، إنكم في شهر عظيم مبارك ألا وهو شهر رمضان: شهر الصيام، والقيام، وتلاوة القرآن، شهر العتق والغفران، شهر الصدقات والإحسان، شهر تفتح فيه أبواب الجنات، وتضاعف فيه الحسنات، وتقال فيه العثرات، شهر تُجاب فيه الدعوات وترفع الدرجات وتُغفر فيه السيئات، شهر يجود الله فيه سبحانه على عباده بأنواع الكرامات ويجزل فيه لأوليائه العطيات، شهر جعل الله سبحانه وتعالى صيامه أحد أركان الإسلام، فصامه المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم، وأمر الناس بصيامه، وأخبر صلى الله عليه وسلم أن من صامه إيماناً واحتساباً غُفر له ما تقدّم من ذنبه، ومن قامه إيماناً واحتساباً غُفر له ما تقدّم من ذنبه، شهرٌ فيه ليلة خيرٌ من ألف شهر، من حُرم خيرها فقد حُرم، فعظموه رحمكم الله بالنية الصالحة والاجتهاد في حفظ صيامه وقيامه، والمسابقة فيه إلى الخيرات، والمبادرة فيه إلى التوبة النصوح من جميع الذنوب والسيئات، واجتهدوا في التناصح بينكم والتعاون على البر والتقوى، والتواصي بالأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر، والدعوة إلى كل خير لتفوزوا بالكرامة والأجر العظيم.
وفي الصيام فوائد كثيرة وحكم عظيمة، منها: تطهير النفس وتهذيبها وتزكيتها من الأخلاق السيئة والصفات الذميمة كالأشر والبطر والبخل، وتعويدها الأخلاق الكريمة كالصبر والحلم، والجود والكرم، ومجاهدة النفس فيما يرضي الله ويقرب لديه.
ومن فوائد الصوم: أنه يُعرّف العبد نفسه وحاجته وضعفه وفقره لربه ويذكره بعظيم نعم الله تعالى عليه ويذكره أيضاً بحاجة إخوانه الفقراء، فيوجب له ذلك شكراً لله سبحانه وتعالى والاستعانة بنعمه على طاعته، ومواساة إخوانه الفقراء والإحسان إليه، وقد أشار الله سبحانه وتعالى إلى هذه الفوائد في قوله- عزّ وجلّ-: { يا أيها الذين آمنوا كُتب عليكم الصِّيام كما كُتب على الَّذين من قبلكم لعلَّكُم تتَّقُون} [البقرة:183].
Translation - English The virtue of fasting and night prayer in Ramadan
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,
O Muslims, you are indeed in a great blessed month, the month of Ramadan. It is the month of fasting, night prayer, and reciting the Quran. It is the month of forgiveness and emancipation from the Hellfire, the month of charity and benevolence, the month in which the gates of paradise are opened and the rewards are multiplied. It is the month in which faults are pardoned, supplications are answered, ranks are raised and misdeeds are forgiven. It is the month in which Allah, the Exalted, bestows upon His slaves all kinds of favors and gives abundant gifts to his allies (devout worshippers). Allah, the Exalted, made the fasting of Ramadan one of the pillars of Islam. So the Prophet, peace be upon him, fasted it and ordered people to fast it. He, peace be upon him, said that whoever fasts Ramadan out of sincere faith and in the hope of reward from Allah, his past sins will be forgiven; and that whoever prays at night in Ramadan out of sincere faith and in the hope of reward, his past sins will be forgiven. It is a month in which there is a night that is better than a thousand nights; whoever is deprived of its blessings is indeed deprived. So, glorify Ramadan - may Allah have mercy on you - with a righteous intention, diligence in fasting and night prayer, hastening to good deeds and to sincere repentance of all sins and misdeeds. Exert your utmost in encouraging each other to do good, in cooperating in righteousness and piety, in advising each other to enjoin good and forbid evil, and in calling to all that is good in order to gain honor and abundant reward.
Fasting involves many benefits and great wisdom which include purifying the soul, disciplining it and cleansing it of bad manners and abominable traits such as insolence, ingratitude and stinginess. Fasting accustoms the soul to noble manners such as patience, forbearance, generosity and striving against one’s self in what pleases Allah and draws the slave closer to Him.
Among the benefits of fasting is that it reveals to the slave what he is, his urges, his weaknesses, and his need for his Lord. It reminds him of the abundant favors of Allah Almighty upon him and reminds him as well of the needs of the poor. This obliges him to thank Allah Almighty and to use His favors to obey Him and to console the poor and show benevolence to them. Allah, the Exalted, referred to these benefits in His words: {O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous} [al-Baqara: 183].
