Bio
I specialize in subtitling, SDH, and closed captioning both in English and Spanish, translations for dubbing, proofreading and correction of subtitles and captions, technical conversions, etc.

I have been a free-lance English-Spanish translator for the past 16 years. I have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the newest American slang terms, as well as of regional and neutral varieties of Spanish. My experience is wider in the film and TV areas, having translated both for subtitling and dubbing (voice-over and lip-synching) for networks and channels that include Discovery, Fox, and HBO.

About 12 years ago, I started working as a Closed Captioner for American TV stations, quickly becoming a supervisor and trainer.

I am currently working free-lance for several clients in the United States, Europe, and Argentina, doing English and Latin American Spanish Closed Captioning, SDH, subtitling, and translations.

I have a team of 40 subtitlers, closed captioners, and translators of English, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese working for me that can accommodate any deadline and budget.

Background, clients:

Born into an Anglo-speaking family in Buenos Aires, English was the first language I spoke because it was the one I heard at home. I had to learn Spanish in kindergarten to be able to communicate with my friends and teachers.
I was educated in the best bilingual schools in the city, and attended college earning an Advertising degree.
My first jobs were mostly as secretary and assistant, and include multinational companies such as Warner Bros. and Federal Express. I used my translation skills all along my professional career, having to translate commercial documents and correspondence of all sorts, legal contracts, technical specifications, operation manuals, advertising and marketing material, and much more.
Nine years ago I started free-lancing for a dubbing company, and learned the specifics of this very special way of translating, where you have to think not only of the language related issues, but of the pronunciation in Spanish, and how it has to match the mouth movements of the English speaker. Two years later, I was introduced to another kind of translating: subtitling of feature films, where the economy of words is the key and the art.
From August 2003 until July 2004, I worked as a Closed Captioner for The Oxygen Network, having captioned numerous films, talk-shows and series. I became the head of my team, and I supervised and QCed the finished work of my three co-workers before it was sent out to the Network, as well as trained new captioners and transcribers.
My last full-time in-house job was working for Visual Data Media Services (http://www.visualdatainc.com) as English and Spanish Closed Captioner and Subtitler, and shift supervisor.
I have worked with the following subtitling and closed captioning softwares/stations:
Win2020, VES Blue 105 Subtitling and Captioning Software, CPC, SoftNi, OmniEdit, Swift DVD and Line 21, EZ Titles 4.
