I am a translator and proofreader for almost 4 years, working with literature and transcriation in technical areas. I have a Bachelor in English-Portuguese Translation, and a Postgraduation in English Language and Literatures in English. I have translated a self-published book and a short story for Babelcube, receiving positive feedback from authors.

As I am a Nietzsche researcher and a student of Auguste Comte's philosophy, my literaty translations cover several papers from Spanish / English into Portuguese with those subjects as a target. I've been published my translations in specialized magazines like Estudos Nietzsche.

I've translated two best sellers in the field of religion, a Christmas tale, a story about Halloween, nursery rhymes, and many other interesting projects.

After 4 years living in Rio de Janeiro, I'm now happy to call Barcelona home! While my experience in Portuguese to English literary translation has culminated in a Brazilian science fiction novel published by the author on Amazon.com, in terms of Spanish to English, I translated a history of a section of Catalonia's Costa Brava by a local author. I also have an MA from the University of Cambridge in English and had one of my own poems shortlisted for the Keats-Shelley Prize in 2015.

I completed my translation degree almost 20 years ago. But only recently I started working as a translator.
I've always been working in Education back in Portugal and now in England.
So far, my literary experiences have been helping to translate a philosophy book from Spanish to Portuguese and, more recently, a children's book from Portuguese to English.

I don't have a favourite genre, but the authors I enjoyed to read the most were Kafka, Aldous Huxley, Zola, Cormac McCarthy, Murakami, Tolstoy, Tcheckov, Ali Smith, Virginia Woolf, Jeanette Winterson, Selim Özdogan, among others. I am not a fan of fantasy. I love reading comics like the ones from Jiro Taniguchi, Quino or Bill Watterson. So far I have translated short stories and Theatre Plays in Seminars at the University and two books of Özdogan for my recreation.

I have 6 year experience in literary translation.

I am currently doing a translation of "Os da minha rua" by the Angolan author Ondjaki for my MA thesis at Wake Forest University. In order to preserve the Angolan flavor of the work while still providing a translation that is just as witty and idiomatic as Ondjaki's original, I am utilizing a new translation methodology that treats cultural elements differently than idiomatic or stylistic elements.

I have translated about 35 fiction and non-fiction works from French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese into English, my native language, for the most part beginning in 2001, for various direct clients.

The first literary translation I ever produced, "Clandestine Operations: the Arms and Techniques of the Resistance: 1941-1944," from French, was published in 1983 and can be found in about 279 libraries worldwide.
