Aslı billiards, ama sanırım ABD'de genelde "pool" kullanılır.

Bu arada Nilay hanımı çok farklı yönleriyle tanımıştık şimdiye dek, demek bilardocu sporcu bir yanı da varmış. Istakasına kuvvet.

Explanation:
Malum, bu oyunun farklı türleri var. Üç top masasında karambolle (cannon billiards) başlar, meraklısı dört top oynar, sonra tek bant (one-cushion), üç bant (three-cushion) devam eder. Veya Amerikan türünde (pool) 15 top, 9 top çeşitleri vardır. Snooker dediğimiz türü Türkiye'ye yeni geldi sayılır, sabır işidir. Unutmadan 3 topla oynananın cadre denilen bir türü daha var. Bunun oynandığını hiç görmedim, en fazla ortaya tebeşir (kuka?) konularak oynanan bir türünü görmüştüm. Tabii bir de artistik bilardo...

Nilay Hanım (manken olduğunu öğrendik bu arada) zannederim pool denilen Amerikan versiyonunu oynuyordur. Çevirdiğiniz metinde bunu kanıtlayan bir bölüm veya fotoğraf varsa pool player diyebilirsiniz. Üç top oynuyorsa billiard-player (Çağdaş, billiards player demiş ama benim bildiğim yazılışı billiard-player).

Ama bilardocu için tek başına player kullanılmasında bir sakınca görmüyorum ben. Birisi elinde "cue" ile masanın yanında poz vermişse ne oynadığı bellidir zaten.
