Comes up in lots of places. Facultative aviation and treaties. Example: ..viss treaty-affaer som tecknats innan xxavdelningens bildande? Elsewhere - 'teckna flyg', 'teckades de foersta satelitkontrakten'.
Do you 'sign' these? Sorry if it sounds a basic question, but 'teckna' translates into various English words according to Fars for one, and I'm not sure what to use in this insurance/underwriting context.
Advice appreciated.

agree  Catherine Brix: George is right - context is everything. You're headed in the right direction with 'sign' in respect to contracts, though this isn't the only alternative. "subscribe for" is for investements like warrants and such.
