Aus einem privaten Brief aus 19. Jahrhundert (Venezuela), in dem es um den Tod eines Familienmitglieds (General Soublette) geht:

Después le abandonó la conciencia, se recostó más sobre su cojín. Cedí a la buena Conchita mi puesto de honor; Antonia que había vuelto a la sala se sentó delante de su venerable padre, y le tomó una mano, Dolores (la madre) también volvió a entrar, y ya no se oía más que el fatigado resuello del moribundo y sollozos suprimidos de los que dejaba huérfanos. Así continuó hasta las 7:30, hora en que entregó su alma al Creador!

Tienen el consuelo todos los hijos del General, haberle asistido, con una amorosa eficacia, cual no será común, pero yo no cumpliría con vosotros, si no os repitiese la mención especial que entre los varones hizo el General de Ramón Hernáiz, a quien entregó su espada, y cuando me lo participó dijo: «¡Qué muchacho tan bueno! ***Algo ha visto usted de él***: no hay dinero con qué pagarlo».
