Spanish term or phrase: oficial cortador
I am translating an extract from 'Malos Tiempos' , a graphic novel by Carlos Gimenez set in Madrid in 1936. In the prologue, it describes the protagonist 'era oficial cortador de la fabrica de fajas.'

What I'd like to know is if this means he was the 'official cutter' of the factory or that he simply worked as a cutter at the factory. At the moment I have just put 'cutter'.

Many thanks in advance.
