Spanish term or phrase: tú, o sea, veis realmente lo del césped natural
"Y la instalación… tú, o sea, veis realmente lo del césped natural… porque la extensión es grande y demás, y el mantenimiento es caro."

Hi everyone,

This is a video where 3 people discuss the pros and cons of using artificial grass over natural grass on a golf course.

The verb "ver" really confuses me in this sentence. Is he saying "You physically can see the grass, because the area is so big. But it's very expensive to maintain". Implying that the natural grass looks great but is expensive? It's a very messy sentence anyway, as he changes from "tú" to "vosotros".

Just for further context, he then says the following:

"¿Cuál sería tu opinión, Irene, desde el punto de vista empresarial, para la construcción de los campos, para minimizar costes, y la posibilidad de que se compagine el césped natural y el césped artificial?"

English translation:lo ves viable/posible/crees que sí/que es buena idea
Explanation:
In Spain we use "ver" in this sense a lot. ¿Qué te parece si ponemos aquí césped? Yo no lo veo (no lo veo viable/no creo que sea buena idea). En tu caso, al ser pregunta, les está preguntando si les parece buena idea (quizá en sentido retórico porque el entiende claramente que no)

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi, thank you for your answers. I will use this suggestion for my translation. The only thing I forgot to say was his intonation wasn't interrogative at the point, it was more of a lead up to the "cuál sería...."

agree  Aurelio Alvarez Ibarra: Totally agree. "Ver" in this case does not mean "to see" but rather to "consider" or "think about".

Explanation:
As there are more than two people in the discussion, the speaker first uses the informal singular form "tu", then self corrects the verb form (veis) to the informal plural. It's pretty common in Spanish to use the informal "tu" that way, the same as we do in English with the impersonal "you/one".
So the effect is sort of like saying "you, I mean you guys, do you really think…"

As I mentioned, changing from "tú" to "vosotros" is quite common in situations like this, and most Spanish speakers wouldn't bat an eyelid at it.
It reminds me of a couple I know who start addressing each other as "usted" when they are arguing instead of the usual "tu"...
