you are stuck with the principle (head) of the lists Explanation: I'm not certain, but I think that "principle" is used here to mean the leader of the lists. I found this translation at IATE: http://tinyurl.com/6o2x5q but the reliability is low and there is no context. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 mins (2008-12-16 20:19:37 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Well, in looking further, the only time I find "principle of closed lists" it is in the sense of a norm. |

you only vote based on the first person on the slate Explanation: I know in Argentina, at the Colegio de Trad Púb, for example, you have a "lista" - slate of candidates... and you cast your vote for the "Lista", rather than the individual candidates on the slate... so, in effect, you vote for the first name on the list... in the case of the Colegio, that's the Pres or Chair or whatever.... |
