Spanish term or phrase: Abanico de selección
From a glossary of technical terms relating to banknote recognition and classsification, what does "ABANICO DE SELECCION" mean:

Abanico de selección: Conjunto de billetes, de la misma denominación, numerados del uno al diez, que muestran diferentes grados de limpieza, suciedad o desgaste y deterioro, representativos de los cambios que sufre el estado y la apariencia del billete a lo largo de su vida útil, debido al uso.

Explanation:
Translating word for word would give "selection fan"
As the text describes a set of 10 banknotes in different stages of deterioration I think this might work

-> Thank you for the advices. I do not understand the question enough. Spanish term "Abanico" is generally the technical term. It applies to a branch of science of the air moving, and devices who are based on it.

disagree  AllegroTrans: This is totally off-beam and you shouldn't just post guesses like this

fitness scale

Explanation:
Fitness seems to be the term used in the context, so it should perhaps be combined with scale/grade/range/sorting or some similar noun.

Asker: Thanks, these are good reference links too. It seems that this 'sample of 10 notes..." is particular only to a process used in Spain for recognition/testing, so again looks like there may be no single equivalent term or phrase for this in English.

agree  philgoddard: You could call it something like a "fitness scale sample set" if you wanted to make it really specific. Or you could say quality instead of fitness, as more people will understand it.

Asker: Yes I think in the end I used "Sample set", which later I thought was perhaps a little ambiguous oniots own. So I do like the suggestion above added by Phil and Jessica for "Grading scale sampler" or even "Grading scale sample set".

selection range

Explanation:
It's about a variety of bank notes from the same line of cash.

"Abanico de selección es un conjunto de billetes, de la misma denominación, numerados del uno al diez, que muestran diferentes grados de limpieza, suciedad o desgaste y deteriora representativo de los cambios que sufre el estado y la apariencia del billete a lo largo de su vida, útil debido al uso."
"Selection range, collection of banknotes from the same denominated group, numbered from one to twelve, which show levels of cleanliness, dirt, wear and tear, and deterioration representative of the changes which the state is suffering, and the appearance of banknotes throughout his life due to usage."

The banknotes are numbered from one to ten (not twelve). The description is of the banknotes which have a lifespan during which their appearance shows levels of cleanliness and deterioration caused by use and resulting wear and tear.

disagree  AllegroTrans: "Diez" means twelve? Can you not even get a simple mumber correct? and "his life" - whose life is that? and "changes which the state is suffering"? You continually are posting nonsense
