Spanish term or phrase: cartera en ejecución
I had thought that this was simply "active portfolio" (of loans) but the passage in question also talks about a "cartera vigente" and they are clearly not synonyms. So my question is what the difference between "cartera reprogramada vigente" and "cartera reprogramada en ejecución" might be. This is a footnote giving definitions of various headings in a document of an international financial institution:

Cartera de Alto Riesgo: [(Cartera vencida + cartera en ejecución + cartera reprogramada vigente + cartera reprogramada vencida + cartera reprogramada en ejecución) / Total de la cartera bruta]

My only guess is that "en ejecución" could be "in (the course of) liquidation", but I haven't been able to find any evidence for or against that guess. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

I think this will work. Thank you very much. I have also since found "portfolio in recovery status".

neutral  John Rynne: "ejecutar una hipoteca" is "foreclose"
20 hrs
-> To foreclose is to take possession of the property securing the loan, after which you may litigate to recover the debt. And we don't even know that these are secured loans.

portfolio into run-off

Explanation:
My hunch was also 'in course of liquidation', namely as a non-reinsurance run-off, so coming to an end and not a 'non-gym' work-out, so reset or rebalancing of the debt.

Query whether üast ProZ answers such as 'in process' or 'in performance' are any use here.

  • Balance Sheet Runoff For a bank or lender, portfolio runoff can occur when payments are made on fixed-term loans without further loan volume generation.
  • You just didn't do all that well, and now the company wants you to move on. They're going to run your portfolio off until it's turned fully into cash and/ or bankruptcies.

Asker: Thank you - I think this could certainly be a good translation of the term in the insurance industry, but my term related to microfinance and was used from the lender's perspective.

Asker: Thanks! This is talking about the same thing, but it seems to refer to the process rather than to the loan category.

Performing portfolio. The part of the gross loan portfolio
which includes the value of all loans outstanding that do not
have an installment of principal past due beyond a certain number of days and that have not been rescheduled or restructured
(see B4). It does not include accrued interest. A standard of ≤
30 days is common, but regulations may require MFIs to use
a different standard. The MFI should clearly state the definition
of the performing portfolio.

Gross loan portfolio. The outstanding principal balance of all
of an MFI’s outstanding loans, including current, delinquent,
and restructured loans, but not loans that have been written off.
It does not include interest receivable. Although some regulated
MFIs may be required to include the balance of interest accrued
and receivable, the MFI should provide a note that gives a
breakdown between the sum of all principal payments outstanding and the sum of all interest accrued. Some MFIs
choose to break down the components of the gross loan
portfolio (see B2, B3, B4).
The gross loan portfolio is frequently referred to as the loan
portfolio or loans outstanding, both of which create confusion
as to whether they refer to a gross or a net figure. The gross
loan portfolio should not be confused with the value of loans
disbursed (see P1 below)

Portfolio at Risk > 30 days:
The value of all loans outstanding that have one or more installments of principal past due more than 30 days. This includes the entire unpaid principal balance, including both the past due and future installments, but not accrued interest. It does not include loans that have been restructured or rescheduled. Source: The MIX Market
Portfolio at Risk:
Measurement of the total outstanding balance of loans past due - not late payments or payments not yet due - divided by the active portfolio. A more rigorous manner of assessing portfolio quality than portfolio past due/ delinquent portfolio. Source: ACCION

Asker: Thank you for all that materials. Much appreciated - but, at least in the context where the term appeared, "en ejecución" was definitely not "performing" but rather, as it turns out, "in litigation" or "in recovery" (being recovered through legal action).
