Spanish term or phrase: mosaico
I have a questionnaire on the types of building materials used in people's dwellings. The list of choices for flooring materials is: Cerámica, baldosa, mosaico, mármol, madera o alfombrado.

I can't imagine that "mosaico" = mosaic, but I haven't been able to figure out what it actually does mean. The document was written in Chile, but the author might be from any Spanish-speaking country.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

English translation:Tile
Explanation:
In most SP speaking countries when one says "mosaico" it will be understood as the covering set as "tile". It is a ceramic glazed material, mainly made of white cement with smooth or matte and brilliant designs.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks very much. As I've worked further through the questionnaire, I've come to the conclusion that the Spanish is making more distinctions than is normally done in English, so, as you suggest, simply " tile " seems to be the most serviceable term.

mosaic tiles

Explanation:
Small square (usually)tiles used mostly in bathroom floors and walls and swimming pools. They can be used to make pictures and patterns, just like the Romans did. Cerámica refers to large-size ceramic tiles.
