Spanish term or phrase: ala
Hello. I am translating a document on converting bytes for identication in one system into a different system. One "ala" is 3 bytes = 8 digit integer (it wouldn't be nibble, which is 3 bits, not 3 bytes)

I have thought it may just be grouping or set??? I would very much appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

neutral  philgoddard: I don't understand your explanation. Also, the identifier is itself a string, so this could cause confusion.

I tend to agree with the neutral about "string", which is usually "cadena" in Spanish in this context and could lead to confusion.

Asker: I like the pun! But whoever IMO is, I decided something like side was better, ended up using string...
