vast (semi-spherical) triangular space... Explanation: based on an equilateral triangle as the architect has said Thuis is very tricky. The description seems to be really contradictory. Surprised I couldn't find any decent pictures of the interior at entrance level which would certainly help! Rather than mistranslating I think "space" is enough here and I would not try to translate 'casquete' or use "spherical" either as that is usually seen as being circular in shape and the entrance area clearly is not... The entire building can be seen (from the outside) as a sphere shape so the bottom part can only be descibed as "semi-spherical" I looked it up in French as well to see if I could get any more info than Helena did but no... I think this description is based on looking at the building as a whole from the outside. Then you can see that , including the dome it is a central spherical shape with the supporting arches arcing out like legs and the circular band looking like a planetary ring. So perhaps it's saying that the ground floor is like a cap (upturned semicircle) in shape when you look at it from the outside? (though there is no dome or cupola on that floor) as the ceiling may look like an arc overhead formed by the building's three supporting arches. (I'm guessing as I have no photo) There are triangular floor and ceiling areas. https://www.archdaily.com/795155/ad-classics-planetario-gali... It also looks like the ceiling is a larger area than the floor? But I don't think you need to go into that much detail. https://elcarretero.fr/vagabonder-etoiles-planetarium-de-bue... https://www.archdaily.com/795155/ad-classics-planetario-gali... https://www.gpsmycity.com/attractions/planetarium-galileo-ga... |

three-legged arched supports forming an equilateral triangle .... Explanation: ....at their base The text and some of their references were not written by an arquitect, or engineer. They have no understanding of the structure. The dome is a perfect hemisphere, which it would have to be to be used as a planetarium 'sky'. The main supports are what is innovative. They do not form an actual triangle except in the abstract that the ground points, if drawn from point to point, do. In other words on the drawing plan. They are slightly arched, but would not be considered spherical. Two of the arches can be seen here; the 3rd is obviously behind the building. https://www.archdaily.com/795155/ad-classics-planetario-gali... |

Reference Reference information: This building is one of the few in the world designed and constructed based on the module of an equilateral triangle. https://www.archdaily.com/795155/ad-classics-planetario-gali... According to Enrique Jan this building is one of the few in the world designed and constructed based on the module equilateral triangle. The architectural choice of this geometric figure holds a symbolism which was expressly sought. It is the most perfect flat surface can be performed with a minimum of equal sides, locking itself a primitive symbolic unit principle. These sequential conditions introduced throughout the development of the architectural project would be the guiding idea to accompany and would show the close relationship between the parts and the whole, suggesting developments since the first elementary particle (matter) to that cosmic development in which we operate. https://en.wikiarquitectura.com/building/galileo-galilei-pla... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 27 mins (2019-10-12 14:36:47 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The Planetarium Galileo Galilei was designed by architect, Enrique Jan and construction was completed in 1966. At the time, the structure had a unique modernist style that was unusual in Buenos Aires. It consists of a large central sphere supported by three arches. It has five floors. The planetarium is a Zeiss Model MV located at the heart of the building with over a hundred projectors. https://www.gpsmycity.com/attractions/planetarium-galileo-ga... |
