A las 22.10 de la noche “Saturno” (Zenteno) en la VIII División en Vallegrande telegrafiaba al Comando en Jefe del ejércio (General Lafuente) en La Paz una propuesta de clave para tratar el espinoso asunto de la captura del Che:
“Fernando (el Che) 500. Vivo: 600, por morse sólo esto primero, lo demás por radiofonía, muerto: 700.
“Muy buenas noches. Parte último ratifica encontrarse nuestro poder 500
deseamos recibir instrucción concreta sobre si 600 o 700.”
El comando en jefe respondía: “Debe mantenerse 600. Máxima reserva, hay filtraciones.”
