Serbian term or phrase: dijurnist
Kontekst:

Any constructive ideas?

Hvala svima!

I somehow doubt they were literally paid every day, as it would be the case with a "nadničar" (radnik na dan) working in fields; nowadays the only employee "paid by the day" would be a "temporary staff" or "fixed contract staff" or "un agent temporaire /non titularisé"

neutral  Alison Kapor (X): I think 'temp' is good in a contemporary context, but it could well be an anachronism here. I agree with 'temporary'. Perhaps 'temporary clerk'?
