- but I agree that draping and moulding are in the same area of meaning. I'd prefer to leave this to those with more fashion knowledge. Again, a bit more context would be useful - is this something topical about a current trend?

Муляж - Moulage or draping or moulding? This method is when you drape or mould clothing on a dummy (not on paper) using pins and other instruments to achieve the best or complicated shape or form of clothing (it means you can even produce a basic straight skirt using this method without calculating and applying any formula), and then cut and transform into patterns. And then you can use these patterns in mass production (quite a long process but helps to create interesting and complicated shape, 3D forms).

Or another option - draping - which I suppose is more suitable for "муляж".There are two methods to construct clothing and get patterns:

One of them is done by way of mathematic calculations, formula and then shown on squared paper in natural size, scale 1/1. Then patterns are made.

The other one is, I think, draping or moulding.? You drape or mould clothing on a dummy using pins and other instruments, and then cut and transform into patterns.

These methods are used in CIS countries, and also other specific approaches such as Muller and Son, Tsotshl, Tsnishp, Lubaks.

Can we have a bit more context, please? "Moulage" is certainly one of those French words that are used in English in a fashion context.
