Many mushers and modern-day Eskimos, for example still prefer to wear a Kusbuk - a pullover parka without a zipper - just to avoid the problem of snow migrating inside the clothing.

Thanks. It's unfortunate that there's no good translation for "glukoi" itself. Only in context.

agree  Mark Vaintroub: Слово "parka" изначально означало "одеваемый через голову."

neutral  David Knowles: In UK, pullover = sweater. Maybe "one-piece" or some such.

-> David, in the US, pullover = PULLOVER sweater. "Pullover parka" is a bit different, somewhat similar to "girlfriend" being different from "friend", "computer science class" from "science class", etc.

agree  Dorene Cornwell: In the Us pullover definitely means out ib iver the head, without an opening in the front. Mark's comment suggests pullover park could be redundant, but what can one do? I think it takes both words here.

-> Thanks, Dorene. I also believe it does take 2 words. Many "parkas" sold here are with buttons or zippers in front..
